CDS Integration

Connecting SLIMS with Agilent OpenLab CDS allows chromatography instruments to be synced with SLIMS, the generation of CDS sample sheets in a workflow, and for the results of a chromatograph run to be imported to the result step in a workflow in SLIMS.

Instrument Calibration

The calibration status of instruments can be tracked in SLIMS, with a check that runs nightly to manage expired instruments. This allows preventing a user to use uncalibrated instrument consequences like content flags and warnings if uncalibrated instruments are used in an experiment run.

Analytical Workflow

This type of workflow allows results for specific tests to be required on a sample navigating a workflow, and is just as configurable as standard workflows. Products and Specifications can be used to configure a set of tests to be measure on a product with specific required result ranges.

Library Preparation

NGS plates can be designed easily using drag and drop functionality. Samples can be selected in batch and moved to appropriate positions in the plate, filled either by rows or by columns.

Pooling and Mixing

Pools or mixes of samples or pools of sample libraries can be created in SLIMS. Once a pool or mix is created, the list of samples included in a pool can be displayed and reviewed.

SLIMS APIs and Plugins

The SLIMS platform provides several APIs to build custom SLIMS plugins and extend the core functionalities of the system by integrating with external equipment or for customizing complex workflows. Web-based applications with custom interfaces like portals for your external customers can be built using our Python API or the flexible Vaadin API.

The Galaxy Platform is fully integrated with SLIMS. Feel free to design your custom workflows on Galaxy and use them directly within the SLIMS workflow module. Everything is managed by SLIMS!

Barcodes and Labels printers

SLIMS contains a tool to design your own labels which will contain the barcodes for your samples or any other item. Multiple features in SLIMS allows to directly scan a barcode to register a sample or to reduce the manual interaction with SLIMS. SLIMS supports:

Authentication

SLIMS provides an internal authentication method but can also integrate with the following authentication providers:

  • LDAP
  • OAuth with Google and Okta
  • Agilent OpenLab Shared Services
OpenLab Shared Services user accounts can be created and used to login to SLIMS if this authentication method is configured. Authentication with OpenLab Shared Services also allows connectivity to Agilent OpenLab CDS for chromatography integration.

Balance Integration

SLIMS can integrate with Mettler-Toledo balances, and for instance send a request to a to get weight value results on tests: the user can click the SLIMS GATE button and get the measurement from the balance through a generic SLIMS GATE plugin.

Make it easier for users to find specific records by creating various saved views that filter for record type or status, that make abnormal results pop with custom highlighting, and more, like sorting, filtering, defining the visible columns, and grouping.

Containers

Containers can be managed in SLIMS: you can register an empty container and fill it with a sample later. Containers have a unique identifier, a location, and can have association with a lot number and an expiration date. (examples: Tubes, Vials)

Flags

Flags can be created and assigned to samples moving through a workflow. These are used to make the samples more visible, but also to control the consequences of a flag, like forcing the sample to be requeued or preventing it from moving through particular protocols.

The Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer system provides sizing, quantitation and quality control of DNA, RNA, proteins and cells on a single platform, providing high quality digital data. A csv file, that is attached to an experiment step, is imported into SLIMS. Results for multiple tests are made and linked to the samples in SLIMS.
