Lausanne (Switzerland), 01.11.2017: Genohm announces that Frederik Decouttere, the CEO of the company, is guest at the Headquarters of BGI, the former Beijing Genomic Institute, in Shenzhen, China.
BGI, the largest genomic organization in the world with 5000 employees, is focusing on research and applications in the healthcare, agriculture, conservation and environmental fields. Headquartered in Shenzhen, it has one of the leading genome sequencing centers in the world.
Created in 1999 in order to participate to the Human Genome Project as China’s representative, 18 years later the company has achieved an impressive growth. It has been commissioned by the Chinese government to build the China National Gene Bank, the first national genebank integrating a large-scale bio-repository and an omics database. Frederik Decouttere, CEO of Genohm, has been invited by BGI to visit the Headquarters in Shenzhen, to present SLims, the LIMS + ELN platform developed by the company and discuss about future collaborations. He also had the chance to exchanged views with BGI management about the future of genomics.
Shuang Yang, CEO of BGI, Yanping Wang, Managing Director of Cell business, Xin Jin, Deputy Managing Director of BGI Online as well as Duncan Yu, VP of International Relations, attended the meetings (picture 1). Frederik subsequently met with Jian Wang, Founder and President of BGI Group, an avid mountaineer who climbed to the summit of Mount Everest in 2010 (picture 2).
The trip and the meetings of Frederic were facilitated by Lan Zuo Gillet, Deputy Managing Director of the EPFL Innovation Park and former Consul for Scientific Affairs at Consulate General of Switzerland in Shanghai.
